Photography, for me, is both mindfulness and meditation. There’s a quiet joy in waking at first light, stepping into the landscape with my camera, never quite knowing what the morning will offer.

After raising four children and living on a grain farm on South Australia’s Yorke Peninsula, I was searching for a creative outlet—something just for me. What began as a simple hobby soon became a deep passion. Travelling through rural areas I’d long known, I began to see them differently. The camera became a way to reconnect—with place, with stillness, and with myself.

I often say my love for photography comes from being a frustrated artist—ever seen one of my paintings? But what I couldn’t express with a brush, I found I could with light, movement, and emotion.

I’m drawn to the painterly qualities that photography can offer: soft abstraction, movement, texture, mood. Using slow shutter speeds, intentional camera movement, and more recently, digital and abstract editing, I aim to create work that evokes a feeling rather than documents a scene.

My images are not about technical perfection, but about capturing a sense of presence—those quiet, fleeting moments that ask us to pause, reflect, and feel.
